On July 15th, 2025, the Taiyuan Market Supervision Administration announced the results of an inspection campaign carried out by the Yingze District Market Supervision Administration to crack down on the illegal production and sale of counterfeit and substandard food in rural areas.
The campaign focused on small rural supermarkets, grocery stores, and convenience stores. It specifically targeted food categories with high consumption rates, such as grain and oil products, meat products, dairy products, alcoholic beverages, pastries, condiments, and others. A comprehensive investigation was conducted to check for violations, including illegal operations without business licenses or operations beyond approved scopes. Key points of the inspection included checking whether the food procurement channels were legitimate, whether strict self-checks on incoming goods and certificate verification were followed, and whether food labeling was compliant. Special attention was given to identifying the sale of so-called "three-no food products" (no production date, no production license/quality certification, no producer information), expired or spoiled food, counterfeit food, and substandard food.
During the inspection, enforcement officers also actively provided food safety information and relevant legal regulations to both rural food operators and consumers. This was done through the distribution of informational brochures and on-site explanations, with the aim of raising rural residents' awareness of food safety and self-protection.
